I’ve just finished teaching my last class for the year, and I’m about to embark on my two week Christmas break.

The last few months have been pretty hectic. Teaching has been a real challenge for me, and it has pushed me in all kinds of directions towards the boundaries of my comfort zones (and sometimes more than a bit beyond). It’s been strange having so many young people depending on me so much for 90 minutes every day.

In a few weeks I’m going to be finishing up my student teaching at my high school and transferring to a middle school. I’m also going to be teaching three regular one hour classes instead of one 90 minute class. Of course the kids are going to be a lot younger, but also two of my classes are going to be remedial (at my own request - I feel I could benefit from the experience). The last significant time I’ve spent with kids this age was when I was in middle school myself - which doesn’t exactly bring up pleasant memories. At least this time I’m going to be the big kid in the class - though I’m pretty sure I still won’t be the cool kid.

Anyway, I think I’ve missed writing in my blog - even though it was one of the first things I abandoned when I started feeling too overloaded. Just now I was feeling stressed when I started writing this entry, but even though my prose is kind of rambling and I’m not entirely happy with the words that are coming out, I can feel some of my stress release a bit.

I think it’s time to come back.
